Grow Some Good

I try to be attuned to socially responsible and values-led businesses, because I think supporting them is important. Sheila Lennon points us to one such endevour today: Free Trees and Plants.com

[Cheryl] Richter, a freelance garden writer and photographer, obtains some of the millions of unsold plants from growers that are destroyed every year. She works with registered organizations that provide employment for the disabled, who process and package the bare-root material for shipping. Except for shipping and processing, the cost of the project is shouldered by the Richters.

"It's a give-back for the success we've had," explains [Greg] Richter.

Spring's coming soon and here's a great opportunity to do something that affects people's lives positively, for the price of a pizza. And if dirt's not really your thing, tell someone you know who has a green thumb (or would like to).

And someone volunteer to redesign their website, please!

That was a good idea. Now if I only had a yard in which to plant something. Oh well, maybe next year!
