Testing, and Sox Countdown
I was sitting at the computer working on a website when BAM, I actually got to watch my clock "spring ahead" for daylight savings time. One second it was 1:59am and then it was 3:00am. More than the novelty of watching my computer do that, I'm extremely excited to know that it will still be very light outside when the Red Sox officially begin their This-is-the-Year Red Sox World Championship Season™ (vol. 86 and counting) (TitYRSWCS86+) at 7pm Central, which I will watch through the beauty of ESPN. The fact that we just lost an hour is totally ok with me, that's one hour closer to the game!
I hit the market today for Ballpark dogs (wouldn't you know, no Fenway Franks down here) and some Sam Adams, so I'm ready. I have my Nomar shirt all laid out, despite the fact that he's laid up with a heel injury. I'm planning an all day celebration. I'm just sorry I can't be up in New England.
As for the game, I am pretty sure we're going to lose. It feels to me like we've lost the past 6 opening day games, which isn't actually true but whatever. Pedro's pitching, and he's been less than inspiring this spring. I have a lot of confidence in him for the season though, even if Em has already started to hate him in anticipation of his imminent departure after our World Series win this October. I kind of wish Curt Schilling was going, but that's no big deal. I'll miss Trot of course, but you can't beat watching the Sox take the field, no matter who's wearing the uniform. Did I mention I am excited?
Non-bloggers, you are done reading this post. Go prepare to root root root for the Red Sox. As for the rest of you. the testing part of the title refers to a new thing I am using to write this post. It's called Frequency, a simple little program by Brad Rhine that allows you to post without logging in, as well as taking care of a lot of HTML stuff (like links, centering, inserting images, etc, which my Opera doesn't display for me). Matt found it, since he's been looking for a desktop based method of posting for a long time now, and I like it so far. Really simple to use. The license is a steal at $9, though I am using it now and it hasn't asked for money yet... Check it out.
I use Zempt on Windows and ecto on OS X. (Well, I'm using a previous free version of ecto called "Kung Log" and I'm planning on switching to the improved ecto soon and paying $17 for it.)
I'll use ecto everywhere once they have a Windows version. It's good. I tried Frequency on Windows, but I can't remember why I stopped using it and started using Zempt. Maybe I was using a previous version.
But ecto really is the best I've seen.
