The Schilling Endorsement

Putting a momentary dent in the beauty and wonder that is the first morning of the Red Sox World Championship Era, Curt Schilling this morning wrapped up an interview on some morning show with this: "Remember to vote on November 2nd, and vote Bush."

I'm disappointed, but not surprised. This is a guy who believes God guides his splitters, so he's a perfect match for the man who believes God wanted him to take out Saddam.

Of course, that means we can say this with certainty: Idiots are voting for Bush.

UPDATE: Curt received a phone call from the president not ten minutes after his endorsement, inviting him to a campaign stop or two. Today, though, Curt says he won't be medically cleared to go (his ankle is, after all, ground beef). I think Dr. Morgan is a Democrat. (I'm pretty sure Theo Epstein is voting Kerry, too, since he was imploring people to vote "to make this a better world" yesterday.)

oh, so anyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot? Oh, wait... they're self-proclaimed idiots.. forget it.

THEY WON!!!!

Oh, and Schilling didn't say anything he hasn't said already...

Just imagine the uproar if he said, "Vote for Kerry." We'd be treated to the mock-indignation of conservatives everywhere, talking about how athletes and entertainers need to stay out of politics (like we got with Linda Ronstadt, the Dixie Chicks, etc).

But since he agrees with them, then he's allowed to have a political opinion.

According to the Herald Theo Epstein is campaigning for Kerry along with Werner and Henry tomorrow. Yay for Theo.

Schilling's recorded some robo-calls.

Via this fairly amusing Lucianne thread. Sample comments:
"Do you think anybody really knows or cares who Theo Epstein is?"
"Most baseball fans hate the owners, who gouge the fans with high ticket prices, overpriced bad food and bad management decisions. I assume GWB was the exception, of course."
"And now the starting lineup for the DemocRAT "Little People."

John F.N. Kerry - Rich, old white guy!
"Red" Ted Kennedy - Rich, old white guy!
John Henry - Rich, old white guy!
Tom Werner - Rich, old white guy!
Theo Epstein - Rich, old white guy!"
