What happens when you combine a love of good beer and a penchant for do-it-yourself projects? Usually some sort of emergency involving power tools. But sometimes, if you're like me, those traits form a desire to brew your own ales, lagers, porters, and wheat beers. Well, I've been talking about it long enough, and it's time to get down to whipping up the first batch of Bil's Beer (not to be confused with 70's icon Billy Beer, though Narragansett has been making a comeback...) However, I need a little help raising startup capital. I figure it will take about $200 to set up the operation, and I'm looking for investors. Thus, I'm selling 6 beer shares, one of which will get you:
  1. Four 6-packs, one per batch, over a 6 month period
  2. Voting rights to determine which styles of beer to be brewed
  3. Brewery tour of Bil's basement
  4. Maybe a t-shirt or something? Stickers? Let's just say "exclusive mystery prize"
And of course, as with any investment, there is some risk.
  1. I've never made beer before. There's a chance it could suck.
  2. It's going to be half a year before you get a full return on your investment. Maybe longer!
  3. You're essentially buying me brewing gear, and all you're getting is beer I'd probably give you free anyway. But only if we got past the free rider problem. Can you handle that?
So how much is a share going to set you back? A mere $24! That's a dollar per bottle. Not bad, I'd say. Who's interested? Leave a comment below (suggestions/questions encouraged)
