monday's issue of time magazine will parade george bush as "person of the year" for the second year in a row. evidently "reshaping the rules of politics to fit his 10-gallon-hat leadership style" is a good thing. if its any consolation, hitler was time's person of the year in 1938.

They didn’t say it was a good thing. As you point out, Hitler was once the man of the year because “Man of the Year” is supposed to be about someone who had a big impact on history. That’s why I objected when they made Bush Man of the Year instead of Osama in 2001. They seemed to be doing it for feel-good reasons instead of sticking to their own description.
For ill, Osama and his followers in the islamic terrorist groups changed the course of history that year and Time wimped out calling that shot.
So I have very little respect for their choice for “Man of the Year.” This year’s choice just seems lazy. Maybe if they hadn’t already made him maon of the year in ’01 it would have made some sense.
I guess they couldn’t change it to scum-sucking bottom-feeder of the year, eh? Although he might lose out to Karl Rove on that one.
