RI Marine Killed in Iraq
As of right now, 20 Americans have died in Iraq in April, plus more coalition forces. At least 40 Iraqis, whose lives are worth, I think, 3/5 of an American life, died today when a missle hit them. Among the marines who died this week was a 21 year old from North Providence. There's a family in my grandmother's neighborhood who will join over 600 American families ripped apart by a poorly planned and executed war based on faulty information.
I'm sick about this.

I find the lack of a larger outrage among the populace curious. I was actually one of those left leaning people who actually supported the war for all the reasons Tom Friedman (NYTimes Op-Ed writer and confirmed liberal) did in his columns. From the beginning, Tom Friedman said his support was conditional on the post-war period being done correctly, which it most certainly hasn’t been conducted. The partisan-ness and ideology of the way this post-war period has been managed is disgusting.
I think our nation is actually more partisanly split and the culture wars deeper than many people think. I know many right leaning people who feel outraged at Bush’s tax plans, his ballooning deficit, and his handling of the war. They just won’t, can’t, vote for anyone else, however. They feel it’s a moral issue, it’s just wrong to vote for a Democrat. Sad stuff…
I agree with you. I’m pretty sick over all of this as well…

I think it has to do with pictures. America hasn’t seen the carnage, which would probably change some people’s perceptions. Not to mention we’re all screwed from watching too much TV anyway.
I’m not sure what you or Tom Friedman or any other war liberals saw in the Bush Admin that made you think they’d do it right, but I never had faith in these guys, which was a major part of my problem with the war.
As to the division in this country… Vice President John McCain.
