The Nomar Garciaparra Era Comes to an End
Jaw-dropping.
Despite all the rumors, all the signs pointing to not being able to re-sign him, I still couldn't believe the news when I heard that Nomar Garciaparra was traded to the Cubs yesterday. I can barely remember a Boston team without Nomar. How can any other uniform contain the trademark fidgets? How can Nomar go deep in the hole and throw a ball across the name of any other team on his chest? It was pretty sad to see Nomar walking out of the Sox clubhouse for the last time.
Don't cry for me, though. Steve needs a lot more consolation than I. For now, I'm just going to remember the great moments (and years) that #5 gave us. The Dunkin Nomar cups are staying in rotation, but I'm going to have to retire my Garciaparra shirt.
Was it the right move? I don't know. I could make arguments both for and against, but really only time will tell. But the Sox did lose last night. Did the Curse of the Nomah just begin in Boston?

Nothing short of a truckload of controlled substances and 3 or 4 Victoria’s Secret angels could make me happy today…
But, Bil, you have thoroughly redeemed yourself. The pic and the mourning-purple link was a nice touch.

To every Red Sox fan - I think we all agree that Nomar will be missed. I’m 14 years old. I’m a girl, from CT, and ive only been watching Baseball for 2 years. But through those two years…ive stuck to the Boston Red Sox like glue. I cried last night while watching his tribute on TV. There were literally tears rolling down my cheeks. I just wanna say Goodbye Nomar, and you’ll always be my favorite player…no matter what team you play for.
