Tragedy Strikes Another Fish Stuff Friday

Em said maybe I was a good luck charm in all things marine related, and boy was she wrong! You know how I introduced you guys to the new fish yesterday? Well, last night we lost the LBC.

I was talking to Em when I noticed the little brown clownfish was covered in spots (click here for the picture, but it's a little traumatic if you are fish lover). Em came up with a diagnosis, and I was going to go to the fish store today to get something to treat him. However, when I woke up this morning, the LBC was lying on the sand, dead as a doornail. Poor OC was hovering nearby, not knowing what to do with herself.

I found out later that the entire batch of black clownfish the store received ended up getting sick from parasites, so there was nothing I could have done. Now I am watching the OC very closely, hoping she won't get infected too (so far, she's looking pretty good).

Godspeed, LBC.

Where did you get the fish? Many stores have a 10 or 14 day guarnatee on fish.

Did you quarantine your fish before adding to your main tank? Also, you should always observe the fish and the other fish at your LFS before purchase. Sorry about your loss.

if it makes you feel any better. i started a fish tank about 2 months and everything was going good until 2 days ago, when i bought 2 plecostamus from the local PetSmart where i work…. the algae cleared up nicely but now all my fish have white spots all over them, are swimming funny, and i am worried of whether they will make it or not. i have already lost my favorite fish of my 30, a full grown blood red parrot cichlid with tons of personality… i put ich remover, did a water change, stopped my filter, and put in some aquarium salt to try to stop it from spreading or killing all my other 29 fishies. IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT ANYONE KNOWS TO DO TO HELP ME OUT PLEASE TELL ME!!! IM DESPERATE TO SAVE MY FISH. email me at tyshep16@yahoo.com if you have any tips. thanks alot! sorry about your fish as well
