We’re Three!
Three years ago today, this was posted on the interweb, and A Cry for Help was born:
Here's a list of people who called/wrote/emailed me and said Happy Birthday to me on Thursday:
Emily, Jill, Erin, Mom, Dad, My Bro Mike, Whitney (no card!), Valerie, Lana. That's it. The rest of you are in trouble.
As you can see, even from the beginning we were tackling the important issues of the day.
(This year's list is Em, Mom, Dad, my brother, Matt G., Erin, Ultra Laser and Steve. Obviously, I am still extremely popular.)
In three years we've had 10 contributors, about 1000 entries (including a bunch that got eaten last February), not enough comments, four major design changes and even a name change. I hadn't even heard the term "blog" back then.
From December 2001 to this day I struggle with all sorts of questions involving this site, should I post more? Should I stop altogether? Should I write more about myself? Less? Focus on a few things? Opine on everyone and everything? Still haven't found any answers, but I've really enjoyed doing this site and I am so grateful for all of you who keep coming back. Thank you, and here's to three more aimless years!

I’d venture to say Bil.com revolutionized the RI blogosphere.
Three years is a long time. And it flew by; I can’t believe it. When Bil.com debuted, I was just ending my first semester at school, counting down - only 7 more to go!! Now I’m ending my 7th, and counting down - only ONE more to go…

Oh Man,
it seems like yesterday that i was reading that post and realizing that i, once again, forgot your brithday. And then it hit me, “fuck! I forgot Bil’s birthday again this year!” Sorry Billy, happy belated birthday. hopefully in the next 3 years i will have quelled my insatiable appetite for alcohol and will post more, only time will tell…..
hugs

Happy birthday! Another Sagittarius (I turn 26 on Dec. 8, which I will spend frantically grading 21 blue-book essays) felicitates you. And, of course, congratulations on 3 years. In the webworld, that’s practically immortality.

dammit…i didn’t make it on the list twice…sorry!
happy belated birthday anyway, bil!
and i like a cry for help just as much as i used too, even considering the “world war III” era (which i now find absolutely hysterical)

Further proof that i have no memory for birthdays. 13 years i’ve known pete and the best i can do is “…ummm it’s either the 27 or the 29″
I know chris is somewhere in july (or is it june?)
I think corndogs is in November somewhere…
Anyway, happy belated b-day man,
m.

Happy Birthday Bil! Happy Brithday too.
It’s the aimlessness that keeps me coming back.

I came across A Cry For Help by some strange twist of the internet chainlink fence. I’m not from RI… TX actually, but I dig Bill’s vision. So… Happy Birthday!!!(belated) Many bows and thanks for putting yourself out here Bill.
Peace, Love & Birthday Cake!

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. What I find extremely gratifying about the whole thing is illustrated above: four of the eight comments are from people I have never met. That’s awesome.
