The pre-heating would mitigate the initial plastic cup drop-off, thus pushing the point of too-lukewarm-to-drinkedness a few minutes into the future. However, the time the java is in that "not too hot, not too cold" temperture range would be completely unaffected.

		<description>+5 for practical, life-related science.  in regards to the plastic cup air insulation needing a few minutes to be heated: while working at uri around eco-friendly types, i found that many of them swear by filling their plastic mug with hot water for a few minutes while waiting for the coffee to brew. they were convinced it made the plastic travel mug of coffee stay hotter for a longer period of time. i should've asked for the data to back up these claims!  perhaps an experiment is in order.
