If you do everything right, a landlord can evict a tenant in less than 2 months. Giving the person just enough time to find a new place and move all their stuff.

Lead paint causes brain damage, especially in little kids. Why are you taking a lead paint class? Are you buying an apartment to become a slumlord, I mean a landlord?

You’re right about that Pete. I also learned that you can refuse rent increases as long as you pay your old rent amount on time. Of course, you could get evicted, but that takes a while and it might be worth it to your landlord to forego the extra income just to keep the place rented.

I’ll probably have to take a lead paint class, too, so I’ll update everyone on the terrible evils of eating paint chips.

Ooh, sounds wonderful. Is the lead paint chipping? That always adds to the ambiance, and it’s good for the kids. And not having central heating is no big deal – it’s not like it gets cold around here in the winter or anything. Sorry, it’s sarcastic Wednesday.

I also knew that it was illegal in RI. It’s amazing how few people know this – people are usually shocked when I tell them. Do a little research into fair housing and tenant law – you’ll be surprised how many things landlord’s do wrong. It’s amazing how little people know about something they’ll spend about ,000 a year on or so.

Good to know that Picerne isn’t illegally fleecing their residents the way my landlord is. Also, if anyone is interested in a 3 bedroom with lots of lead paint and no central heating, please let me know, I have just the place for you!
